Well, the saga of uncertain summer employment reached a conclusion (finally).
As of this morning, my summer employment was officially approved. Meaning, come next week, I'll be working 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, like a truly productive member of society.
I didn't think I'd ever be excited about working full time for the summer, especially as a student. But in a time where so many people are losing jobs, I feel grateful.
Of course, that's not to say things will be the same as they were last summer, or the summer before. My best friend at work didn't have her contract renewed (boo), which means for the first time in two years, we won't be coordinating coffee, we won't spend our lunch breaks together, and we won't be going for runs like we have the last couple years.
But all things considered, I'm looking forward to it. In the face of all the uncertainty lately, it's been nice to see firsthand how well-liked (and apparently valuable), I am by all of my co-workers.
And weirdly, a goose laid her eggs in the middle of the parking lot. So I'm curious to see how that scenario plays out!
The sun is shining, I'm still employed... things are trending up!
