Yesterday, for the first time in a long time, life felt like it did before this pandemic engulfed the world.
Yesterday, I saw family not once, but twice in a day.
With a morning dedicated to a charity walk with my aunt, and a separate, slightly larger get together at the house of another aunt and uncle with multiple people in attendance, life once again felt busy yesterday. And exciting - evidently, I missed having places to get and people to see more than initially anticipated.
Though COVID precautions still were a thing (like masking up or wearing masks when we went inside to get food), there was an undeniable buzz, an undercurrent; a mutual understanding that this may, in fact, be the tail end of what has proven to be a challenging and isolating 16 months.
My cousin's daughter, who turns 5 at the end of this month, has claimed for a while that this pandemic will be over by her birthday. With the way the mood felt yesterday, and last night more specifically, I'm beginning to think she may just be right.
