Months ago now, I mentioned my impending Vice-Presidency (or internal affairs) for my Faculty's student council.
My time in that role started this past week.
Yes, our incoming council called our first meeting. Just to get the ball rolling, so to speak - nothing crazy yet, in terms of governance. As the executive in charge of coordinating professional development events, I'll be busy over the summer. Researching organizations, facilitating contact, developing a schedule for presentations... you name it, it's on my plate.
A decent amount of work? Yes. How am I feeling about this? For sure aware that it'll be a lot of work. But, I'm still excited - I've got my to-do list started, with a few easy tasks already crossed off. We're rolling!
We next convene at the end of June. With any luck, I'll have the first couple sessions more or less planned out, so we'll have something more substantial to discuss at the next meeting.
I won't lie - this has been acting as a nice distraction. With COVID raging and life being otherwise blasé, this new role has been a perfect opportunity to branch out and add some excitement. All this research, brainstorming, and just generally seeing what else is out there is exciting, both in terms of enhancing my own final year of my B.Ed., while also seeing what else is out there for once this pandemic does end. Something to be optimistic about... yay!
Wish me luck!
