dress up or dress down? | asking the big questions

There's two kinds of people in the world in the time of a pandemic: those who choose to actually make an effort with what they wear, and those who don't.

I think more and more people are slowly but surely slipping into the "don't" category.

Which is fine, when you're just hanging around your house, and your only form of exercise is moving from the couch to the bed, and then back again.

But occasionally- very, very rarely- the opportunity comes to actually leave the house. Remember that? Exiting through the front door, and emerging on the front step, sun shining, birds chirping, and neighbours on the street waving hi?

Yeah, those people don't want to see your hole-ridden sweatpants.

Just earlier today, I had to stop my own mother from leaving the house in crazy-print leggings. Totally "social-distancing/house arrest chic", but probably not something one should venture out into the big wide world wearing. She eventually opted for jeans- a much safer choice.

I get it, times are tough- but that's no excuse to display our most hole-ridden, beat up sweatpants to everybody we see. Try putting on actual socially-acceptable clothing before leaving the confines of your house (prison cell?)... it may actually improve your mood too.
