Well, it's official: not only am I graduating with my B.Ed in a few weeks here, I'm graduating with a full-time, permanent job lined up.

Yes, you read that correctly: this past week I signed my first ever teaching contract! From what I've come to understand these past couple years in the program, walking out of a B.Ed program and into a full-time gig in your own classroom is pretty rare. Needless to say, it's feeling like all the hard work in the program did, in fact, pay off.

Now admittedly, I'm teaching middle years, which isn't exactly what I had trained for. That said, I have experience with grade 9, and I've been hired for 7/8, so not necessarily a massive jump. That reality, combined with the overwhelming flood of support, suggestions, and resource suggestions from the teachers I do know has me incredibly excited about what's to come as I finally start my career.

The next couple years (specifically, this next school year) is shaping up to be a busy one! Between being a first-year teacher and grad school, no doubt I'll be busy. But as I've been reminded, I'm young - I can handle this!

So now the work truly begins. Once my teaching assignments have been confirmed I'll be prepping, planning, and waiting to get back into the classroom. Looks like I'm officially committed to a lifetime of "First Day of School", albeit in a slightly different fashion.

I've been reliably informed that teaching is the most rewarding profession. I've started to get glimpses of this the last two years as a B.Ed student in practicum.

I'm excited to witness this for myself.
