fall is (almost) here

Whichever way you look at it, it would appear that summer is almost officially over, and fall is about to begin.

I'm in the last week of my full-time summer student contract. My B.Ed. orientation and subsequent classes start this upcoming Monday. I've seen a few leaves change colour, now looking more yellow in tint than green. And, to top it all off, Starbucks released their fall drinks (Pumpkin Spice Latte included) yesterday (which, admittedly, may be a bit early).

If Lana Del Rey were here, she may proclaim that the season of the witch is upon us, or something like that.

This summer was more or less lazy, and more or less uneventful (thanks COVID). And while I've appreciated having a job to consistently get me out of the house, and also get me a fairly solid paycheque, I'm undeniably excited about the next week. There's a lot happening.

Back to school season feels a little bit more exicting this year. Whether it's because I'm starting out in a new professional program, or the irony that I'm going back to school to learn to teach, I'm looking forward to it. I also got my teachers' society student membership card in the mail yesterday. It gets me discounts at places. I'm excited.

So yeah. August is undeniably winding down now, quick as it seems. COVID time is measured on a different scale, as the past few months have shown. The days seem a little cooler. Instagram feeds are looking a little more orange-tinted and generally geared up for a more vampy, fall aesthetic.

It's clear: autumn is (basically) here.
