father's day

Tomorrow is a big day for a lot of people: father's day.

Admittedly, a little strange this year (much like last year) in that families are often separated and unable to see one another, to acknowledge and celebrate father figures in their lives.

As for my sister and I, we're still at home (living that student life), so we'll have the opportunity to spend the day with family, including our dad, who's been ever-present and ever-supportive, no matter the circumstance.

While we've been fortunate to grow up in one house with both parents present and involved, the reality is, not everybody is that lucky. For a variety of people in a wide array of circumstances, some people may have little to no relationship with their parents. And so, for some, this isn't a day of family, but a day of isolation.

Whatever the circumstance, tomorrow is a day to acknowledge the father figures in our lives, the people that have helped make us who we are. No matter the situation, tomorrow (and everyday), take the time to acknowledge the loved ones in your life - life is short, and it's more important now than ever.
