Since the pandemic started, and classes got moved online, I haven't seen any of my friends.
Not a single one.
Out of an abundance of caution on everybody's part, admittedly. But since March, when life got shifted online, I haven't seen my friends in person. Not once.
That changed yesterday (finally)! Motivated by my sister meeting up with one of her friends a couple days ago, my best friend from university and I met up after four months. Needless to say, it was long overdue.
It was nice to catch up again. We got ice cream and talked over my graduation and plans for the upcoming school year as I pursue a degree in Education (which I had registered for that very morning). We talked about her future plans, namely finishing up her degree this fall, and applying to nursing. Then we just walked around, shooting the breeze... it was simple, but was a sense of normalcy I think we both desperately needed.
It was nice to forget about how weird life is for a couple hours. Being back with friends, it seemed easy to pretend like we were still living in the "good old days" (aka the pre-COVID days)- of course, while keeping a distance, and using lots of hand sanitizer... baby steps!
