To put it mildly, Christmas is going to be weird this year. Muted. But that doesn't mean it has to be less festive.
The decorations are up at our house this year (sans tree). But the rest of the additions are scattered throughout the house - stockings, glittery decorative trees, star hung in the window. And, new this year, two gingerbread houses decorated by my sister and I.
It's not something we've normally done, or at least, not for a long time (like: since childhood). And though our initial plan to somehow combine both kits into one massive mansion proved impossible, they still turned out pretty cute and very festive. You couldn't even tell that the icing tube basically exploded everywhere!
December 2020 is a December unlike any other. Though we can't gather with family and friends, there's still ways to make the best of it. Gingerbread included.
