I've made an observation lately: I have pretty much three hairstyles I cycle through on repeat.
There's the half-up/half-down thing I do in the couple after my hair gets washed, then there's the messy bun with braid (always to the left), and the side braid (again, always to the left). I pretty much pick these three cause they're easy, and take about 30 seconds to do.
It does get a bit repetitive.
But, I think I've broken the cycle. On a whim, I attempted dutch-style boxer braids... and SUCCEEDED.
Well, more or less. The left side turned out great (evidently there's something about the left side of my head that's conducive to nice hair), and the right... well, it wasn't symmetrical. But all things considered, not bad for a first attempt.
Yes, this is by and large a trivial matter. But, the result looked great, and it felt like a significant accomplishment... holding your hands above your head for a while will indeed result in loss of sensation in your arms. Was it worth it though? Definitely.
Hurray for learning new things!
