I'm important, apparently | summer job expansion

I've been a (student) member of the civil service for 3 years now. This is my fourth summer at my current job, and by far the busiest. From 9 to 5, I'm running around busy, day in and day out.

I'm not complaining. It's just a contrast to the otherwise steady pace I've grown to expect over these past few years.

And it's not even just the routine microbiology cases we get that's taking up my time. My role has expanded from making media for bacterial identification to helping with accreditation, dealing with equipment records, and soon, I'll be training to actually culture the samples we get. Oh, and I'm now a part-time receptionist too (despite my initial hesitation about answering phones, I actually find sitting at a desk to make for an enjoyable couple hours).

It hit me today when I was driving home how fast this summer is going by. I've been working full-time again for about a month now, and it somehow feels like it's been a way shorter time frame than that. Not sure if that's cause social activities are limited now, or if I'm just so busy I don't really have much downtime during the day, but it does definitely feel like the days are going by at warp speed sometimes.

Tomorrow I have another big day covering the reception desk, dealing with a bunch of parasitology samples we couldn't get to today, and who knows what else. It'll inevitably be busy, yet again, but it makes the day go by faster, then it's one day closer to Friday (and payday).
