lesson plan eternal

Writer's picture: LeahBeeLeahBee

I've seen my fate, my future: lesson plan, after lesson plan, after lesson plan.

Naturally, this comes with the territory. BUT, I've been surprised by how fundamentally time consuming it is to prep for 3 different classes each week (let alone teach 4 out of 5 periods in the day).

That said - clearly, my efforts are paying off thus far. I had my first observation for this practicum block this past week, and my advisor was clearly impressed (she said as much). My review was glowing. No areas to improve. Winning!

Kidding.

Well, only partly - she did say I did awesome, and that she had no suggestions for improvement (I believe her exact words were "keep up the good work"). That said, I am acutely aware that improvement is continual in this field: lessons can always be modified, ideas can always be tweaked; it's the natural evolution of pedagogy. I have my own personal goals, and I look forward to working towards those.

I also look forward to the day when I'm not planning everything from scratch.

My, what a day that will be!
