New decisions. New job situation. New month (tomorrow).
Tis the season of new beginnings.
Today was my last day at my job of 3 years. Though I now technically venture into the realm of unemployment, there is a possibility I’ll be back. I may be starting a new volunteer position at the same office. Tomorrow is May 1st- my so-called “expected graduation date” that appears on my university records.
Basically: a lot is changing/has changed in these 24 hours. It feels a bit crazy, if I’m being honest. I spent three years at the same exact job, with the same people (more or less). I spent five years at the same university, pursuing the same degree. Those chapters are done, and it’s on to the next. I will admit, I move timidly into the future- nothing lately is going to plan! But despite the uncertainty, I’m optimistic (dare I say, maybe even somewhat excited?) about the future.
Maybe it’s just that the weather is finally nice, or that my grad gift arrived today (an electric scooter, like my sisters, ha!), or maybe the warm wishes and general praise I received from my coworkers in my last hour as a civil servant. Whatever it is, there’s a lot to be thankful for and excited about- even in a pandemic.
