For my birthday a couple weeks back, one of my gifts was a houseplant - a lofty goal for me, seeing as I managed to overwater (and subsequently kill) a succulent. But, nevertheless, said plant is currently sitting on my bookshelf and, after a couple weeks under my care, is still alive (or appears to be, anyways).
The plant is question is commonly known as "Baby's tears", and can thrive under artificial light, or limited sunlight conditions (perfect for the current placement in my room). Conveniently for me, it's important that the roots never get soggy, so I can be confident that minimal watering is me doing a good thing - not being neglectful. I'm keeping an eye out for signs of wilting (if I'm honest, I don't quite have a full idea about what I'm looking for with that, whoops), but supposedly it's easy enough to snap back from that. Basically: I should be able this one alive.
So far, so good, is all I can really say about it! I have ultimately wound up naming the Dottie (for reasons still beyond me, but hey, we're rolling with it), and she's just chilling in her cute lil' stripped pot. We're doing well! Fingers crossed it continues like this.
