second dose done | one step closer to normal

As the vaccine rollout continues Manitoba-wide, my sister and I reached another, more personal milestone today: dose number two.

Yes, we both received our second Pfizer does today, meaning the antibodies are well and truly on their way to forming. And, in a couple weeks, we'll be eligible for vaccinations cards, given us a ticket back to a slightly more normal world.

Needless to say, we're pretty excited. By all accounts, the fact that so many vaccines have been produced and injected into arms is a huge global feat. Science works. Capitalizing on technology that already exists, and collaborating with other sciences and medical professionals, the world has taken huge leaps towards the end of this pandemic.

Simply put: get vaccinated. It's safe. It's exciting to do so - the atmosphere at the super centres has been palpable; everyone actually working together, supporting a common cause to help end this pandemic. We all have a part to play in this, and taking the vaccine is an easy way to do just that.

So, here's to healthcare staff, here's to essential workers, here's to science, and here's to vaccines in arms. Every dose in one step closer to the end of this. There's a light at the end of the tunnel; the end of this pandemic is almost among us.
