I think we, as society, have officially run out of things to do.
This point was illustrated perfectly last night: my sister, whose desk is eternally a mess, recruited my mother's help to clean it up. And that was... quite the process, to say the least.
There were dozens of notebooks (some filled, some not), a seemingly endless number of pens, and in the case of one particular piece of paper, a letter from Scotiabank... addressed to me, not her.
Long story short, a lot of stuff was thrown in the trash last night. And yes, her desk looks much better than it did yesterday (or ever, quite frankly). But from what I've heard, it wasn't just our house that's been tossing stuff out.
Apparently, we've collectively moved on from hoarding toilet paper and baking bread. The new "thing" may very well be cleaning out your house. Evidently, the local dump has seen a substantial increase in garbage brought in, and an increase in the number of people swinging by to dump stuff themselves.
So while we may be spending Victoria Day more or less at home, at least our houses will be clean. Silver linings?
