sunflower surprise

I don't know if I've mentioned it on here or not, but I really like sunflowers.

I discovered this over the summer- something about them just makes me happy, and they quickly won the title of "Leah's favourite flower". A big deal, especially for somebody who knows virtually nothing about flowers. However, I admired them from afar- driving past sunflower fields, or scrolling through pictures online. I just never seemed to come across any to take home.

But today, my mom had to go out to run an errand over the lunch hour. And when she came home, she called me downstairs... to my surprise, she was carrying a bouquet of them! So I now have a vase of sunflowers adorning my shelf, helping me hold onto summer just a little bit longer.

My room is mainly grey, so something about the yellow of them just contrasts well. They also smell good, so that's a definite bonus.
