Normally, I'm the kind of person that puts off Christmas music as long as possible. Honestly, most years I barely even give the stuff a listen. And, beyond the enjoyment of opening presents and eating an advent calendar throughout the month of December, I very rarely get into any kind of festive mood.
This year, that appears to have changed.
Yes, for the first time in recent memory, I've been listening to Christmas music and talking winter plans, admittedly with my students. I will say, it seems like there's really something to experiencing the magic of the holiday season alongside a group of kids (even if they won't admit it, since they're "in grade 8 and too old").
In reflecting back, the time this term has been going by quickly. And, my coworker and fellow newb teacher were counting today - only four and half weeks until we get two glorious weeks of winter break. It's been fun, but it can't come fast enough.
So here's to the days that feel long, and the weeks that feel short. To the reports that need writing, and the meetings that still need to be had.
We're getting there, day by day.
