Temperatures finally warmed up here today. Meaning, the day was largely dedicated to lugging all the outdoor furniture from the basement to the yard.
Yes, the annual tradition of schlepping chairs, pillows, and decorations once again occurred today, at the initial reluctance of both my sister and I. That said, we did manage to survive it, and the setup has already gotten the first bit of use (namely, dinner today).
While outside though, I received a news alert on my phone - nothing out of the ordinary; I do have the CBC news app alerts enabled. But this time, the headline was focusing on Dr. Theresa Tam outlining to Canadians that we have a shot at a normal summer - a so-called "one shot" summer, as the Prime Minister so eloquently put it.
This summer season is undoubtedly off to a rough start - I mean, really, who wants more restrictions. But really and truly, with vaccinations ramping up, and the age requirement dropping, it's looking like we may just be in the home stretch of this thing.
With any luck, the annual backyard setup of May 2022 will be life as usual - back to the way it was.
