watch woes

For the last few years, I could frequently be spotted out in public with an Apple Watch securely around my wrist. Literally, props to whoever came up with the idea of a smart watch, because they seriously are the best. Getting notifications straight to your wrist is so convenient- instead of having to dig out your phone to see who texted you, you'd just need to peek down at your hand to see if an immediate reply was necessary. The weather was right there too, and there were directions from GPS conveyed to you via haptics. Basically, I loved that thing.

Except yesterday, my Apple Watch (series 1) gave up the ghost. For some annoying reason, the screen started popping off. Apparently, not a totally unheard of problem with the first generation- the battery started to swell and *POP*- off goes the screen.

Yeah, not a great way to start a day.

I've come to the conclusion that my wrist just feels like... naked without it on, at this point. Thankfully, my sister had a spare watch (actually, a spare calculator watch) that I can borrow for the time being. But it definitely threw me off whenever I caught a glimpse of it- stupidly enough, it felt like something was missing.

Was I/am I incredibly miffed it crapped out on me? Yeah, totally. I was pretty much in a blind rage over it Sunday morning. Especially because I didn't do anything to damage the battery (or, I don't think anyways). But at the end of the day, it is only a piece of technology, and I can always just get a new one... right?
