we're trucking along

T-1 month until the one-year anniversary of COVID coming to town.

And my, what a year it's been.

In a lot of ways, it feels like we've always lived like this - socially distancing, conducting "socially-distanced" (aka Zoom) events, working from home. The list goes on.

In other ways, it still feels new. I suppose you never really get used to living like this - away from friends and family, confined to a screen, alone while you work.

But as we close in on one year of COVID-19 in Manitoba, it's maybe worthwhile to take a moment to just breathe and consider how far we've come. We've made it thus far - businesses are still open, the economy hasn't collapsed, and if you're reading this, you're (presumably) still healthy and (hopefully) happy as can be, given the circumstances.

Recently, the Manitoba Museum put out calls for the public to save pandemic-era artifacts, to one day complete a museum exhibit to show future generations what we all lived through. Personally, not an exhibit I'll be visiting anytime soon (maybe when I'm like 80) , but a nice idea nonetheless.

We're getting there, people. Believe it or not, each day is one day closer to the end of this whole mess. It feels like it's been forever, and will last for another century, but the odds are good that it won't. And on the plus side, it's finally starting to warm up - no doubt, that'll work wonders for morale.
