A lot happened today, honestly. Haven't been able to say that in a while.
There was my long-awaited first shift at the call centre, 9 am to 1 pm. And in that time, I had to set up 3 separate accounts for varying software programs, spend time on hold with IT, and then spent hours calling 60+ people, and tracking their progress. There were even muffins for those of us in the office- win.
Then it was back across the city (did I mention it's the literal opposite end of the city to where I live), hang out at home for a while, then off to a combined family birthday. There was lots of good food, good drinks, and good company... and a brief round of croquet, played with a 7 year old and a 4 year old. Running around with them on the lawn for a minute felt like a sort of blast back to the pre-COVID days- that was nice.
Came home, went for a nice walk (though nothing like the 1000 km walked in 100 days by my aunt, but still), and finally, finally- I managed to lie down (finally!).
Days aren't really busy anymore, especially not this summer. And, with the recent uptick in cases, who knows if it'll be long before we're headed back to lockdown (which, realistically, we need)- so it was nice to get the "doing stuff" bug out of my system. I understand why life just fundamentally needs to be "boring" right now, but still... it's nice to be out and about.
Hopefully tomorrow is just as exciting.
