it's done! | 40s nightstand upgrade

Well, it's official! After multiple coats of paint, several failed attempts at applying a metallic topcoat, and eventual success, the 1940s nightstand is officially painted, dried, and staged!

In all honesty, it's actually been done for while- but finding some time to get pictures has proved difficult, between working full-time, graduation parties, and an unfortunate cold on the part of my aunt (which thankfully, wasn't COVID).

But, she was gracious enough to stage and take some nice photos to round off this first instalment of this DIY series, on top of her allowing me to take part in this project to begin with.

Overall, there was definitely a steep learning curve! Having never done anything like this when the project started, I was apprehensive. But, I was pleasantly surprised- it wasn't nearly as hard as I was anticipating, and I actually had a lot of fun (though I'm sure the company contributed a lot to that as well!). One more skill to add to my repertoire!

In many respects, I suppose you could say this was the perfect pandemic-project: could be done from the comfort of your own (or your aunt's) home, could be done at a leisurely pace, and presented minimal risk of self-injury (unlike projects which require table saws, or other power tools, ha!). And, I'd call it a success (in my own humble opinion)... you can barely even see where we messed up the metallic!

My overall rating? 10/10.
